Everallyn (1768-?), was a sorrel mare owned by Thomas Jefferson from 1774-?. She was the mate of the famous Fearnought, and the mother of Ethelinda. She was named after the wife of Ossian and mother of Oscar in "The Poems of Ossian," a book based on Gaelic legends of which Thomas Jefferson was a great fan.
Mr. Jefferson is spending Christmas this year at Poplar Forest. It's just a short stay. He's been there only about a week and will be back at Monticello before the new year.
