Everallyn (1768-?), was a sorrel mare owned by Thomas Jefferson from 1774-?. She was the mate of the famous Fearnought, and the mother of Ethelinda. She was named after the wife of Ossian and mother of Oscar in "The Poems of Ossian," a book based on Gaelic legends of which Thomas Jefferson was a great fan.
Thomas Jefferson is on the road back to Monticello from Poplar Forest. He turns 67 years old today. He'd rather nobody made a big fuss about it, though. He thinks the only birthday worth celebrating is that of the United States on July 4th.
